Chris,
This won't help much other than to back up your suspicions. Yes,
there are limits to ozone but I don't know what they are. Used to be
part of the safety evaluation process so you might start there.
Laser copiers and things do tend to generate a lot of ozone and
they actually have ozone scrubbers as part of the system. Usually, they
are cartridges and are suppose to be replaced periodically. You might
have that checked on your copier - could be an easy solution. (Either
that or we can fix this bad boy by adding some sensors and relays to
detect the copier operation and then depress the release button on a
can of hair spray into the fuser section of the copier. Won't stop the
ozone production but the hairspray will kill it!)
I always found that it was interesting because its basically
oxygen with an extra atom. Seems like more oxygen would be a good thing!
Ozone, allotropic form of oxygen having three atoms in each molecule. It
is a pale blue, poisonous gas with a strong odor. Liquid ozone is deep
blue and strongly magnetic. Ozone is formed when an electric spark
passes through oxygen. It is more chemically active than ordinary oxygen
and is used in purifying water, sterilizing air, and bleaching certain
foods. Ozone formed in the atmosphere from automobile and industrial
emissions, however, is a hazard

Good PSTC People.
Is Ozone a toxin?
Many years ago I had a factory inspector threaten to close down
some High
Voltage test equipment because there was too much Ozone being
produced.
Lately we have had bad vibes about a Xerox copier making too
much Ozone and
threats of ill health etc. to operators.
So my questions are:
Are there any legal limits on the production of Ozone?
Is it dangerous/what are the physiological effects?
Where can I find out about it?
Why do they sell Ozone generators for use in kitchens and
bathrooms, does
it get rid of smells etc.?
Why do I get a headache and a tight chest when I'm around this
stuff?
Funny stuff, Ozone. Sure makes screws go rusty very quickly!
Any information anybody wants to share?
