Hello group,
I strongly suggest changing a version number. As a test house we always oblige our customers to change their version number on every modification that justifies TCF changements. Most of the time this is done by adding a character A-Z or A1-Z9 to cover for many variations, and most of the times this is not reflected on the outside of the equipment. The TCF however shows where to locate the exact version release label, which is most commonly on the mains PCB or other "very important system part". When i speak about TCF i do not specifically refer to the approval route using competent or notified bodies. I suggest all manufacturers to create a TCF regardless of the route to be followed. <PUBLICITY> For those that do not know how to create a full compliant DoC, we have models for sale, that only need to be filled in. Although the creation of such a doc is not difficult and many examples are to be found, our model fulfills all legal requirements laid down in the CE- EMC and LVD directive. Look on our home-page. <END OF PUBLICITY> Regards, Gert Gremmen Ing. == Ce-test, Qualified testing == Consultants in EMC, Electrical safety and Telecommunication Compliance tests for European standards and ce-marking Member of NEC/IEC voting committee for EMC. Where a product has any significant modification, we change a suffix digit in its ordering number (not the product type number) and this is shown on all DoCs. Otherwise (for example where the DoC needs just to apply a revised standard without any product change) we feel the new issue date of the DoC covers it. What do others do? Roger [email protected] on 02/11/99 13:25:29 Please respond to [email protected] To: [email protected] cc: (bcc: Roger Viles/PLY/Global) Subject: EU Declaration of Compliance As new or revised standards become effective, there are times when a product must be revised to comply with the new requirements. There will be two editions of the Declaration of Compliance. Obviously, the new Declaration only applies forward from a particular manufacturing date or serial number unless the model number has changed. Are you adding any particular information to your DoC to provide this information? Are you changing the model number? If neither of these apply, how are you handling the change? --------- This message is coming from the emc-pstc discussion list.
