Thank you one and all for your quickly delivered help on this subject: it has confirmed for me that our current instructions should remain in force, to remove the CMOS PCBs from the Control System whilst there's welding going on (as Ed Price recommended)... just in case.
I'd especially like to thank Robert Macy for such a wonderful set of calculations. I would love to do some measurements on-site, but I don't have access: neither can I make design changes to add ferrites and extra suppression - but thank you David for the suggestions. Thanks again!
