Hi Listmembers: One final note about list operation problems. If you have a problem with multiple posts, or some other weird condition related to the EMC-PSTC list operation, remember to select the "FULL HEADER" option for your mail program (so that you can then see the entire path of the post).
If you have the time, try doing this procedure for THIS post. You will see that the IEEE server (named Ruebert) will be shown handing a post to some other server. The transaction time will be noted. Then, there will be several more server hand-offs, until the post is received into your company's or ISP's server. Sometimes, you can even see when the post was transferred into your machine. (This also provides a look into the psyche of MIS people, as the servers are often given names thought to be humorous or inspirational.) If you can't determine the cause yourself, then forward this view of the post to the list admins (Jim, Rich and I) so that we can look at the data. It seems like many people are unaware of the difference between the "REPLY TO" and "REPLY TO ALL" options. I usually reply only to the list when answering a post. I used to "reply to all", but I realized that this created multiple posts to several recipients. (One strange fact is that our listserver is often very slow in distributing a post; it's not unusual for the listserver to take several hours to send a post to all of our 800 members. So, if you "reply to all", a direct post will usually get to the recipient in a few seconds, while the list-distributed copy may arrive 4 hours later!!!)
