Dear Rick, Brian I would question the applicability of EN 55022, and the EN 61000 series standards to Car Audio Equipment. In a former life I was involved in After Market Vehicle Security Systems approvals in the UK. Standards applicable a few years ago to the vehicle environment were: ISO TR 10605 Vehicle ESD ISO 11452 Vehicle Component Immunity ISO 7637 Vehicle Component Transients CISPR 25 Emissions limits for protection of receivers CISPR 12 Emissions limits for vehicles Recently, the EMC requirements for vehicle equipment in Europe were modified by the introduction of EU Directive 95/54/EC, the "Vehicle EMC Directive" This now in force, but there are some transitionary arrangements. I have always found RFI Ltd. www.rfi.co.uk a very reliable source of information in this area. Brian, I've been receiving a lot of helpful information from this Forum over the years, so I thought I'd try to return the favor. Here are some "after-market product" Car Audio Amplifier requirements, that I collected along the way: Domestic: SAE-J1113 (August 1987) Electromagnetic Susceptibility Procedures for Vehicle Components SAE-J1455 (1988-01) Recommended Environmental Practices for Electronic Equip. HS-3600 (1997 Edition) Surface Vehicle EMC Standards Manual International: EN55022 Emissions (Radiated & Conducted) EN 61000-4-2 ESD EN 61000-4-3 RFI EN 61000-4-6 CRFI The above list may not be complete, but at least it will get you started. If you are selling "directly" to an automotive manufacturer, then you will have to contact them and find out the requirements. I heard they have their own "extended" set of own regulations. I ordered my standards from Conformity (978) 486-0888.
