Depending on the volume of testing, the simplest way to do this is to short
the hipot leads periodically, say once a day.
If the test 'passes', you have a problem with the Hi Pot tester, possibly a
break in the leads, or maybe just that the leads are not pushed into the
socket.

>From the quality point of view, the results of the test should be logged and
initialled. If you have a failure, a day's retesting would have to be
redone, but this a a lot better than testing for weeks or months with a
faulty lead.

Your Quality Manager would be quite pleased if you detect a failure and have
to redo a day's testing. He will be able to demonstrate to his auditors how
your Quality System picks up and corrects a potentially serious problem. :-)
