I've had the Quiet Expert package for over a year now. It will do rules
checking and will highlight issues with the design and offer solutions using
the "Expert" aspect of the package.

I mainly use it for the rules checking. It is relatively quick to import
our design files into QE and perform the check. However, in order to get
the full use out of the expert portion of the package, all major components
need to be "described". This can take some time if you don't have a stack
of data books readily available. The more thoroughly the design is
described, the better the output.

As I said, as a rules checker its fine. If you have the time and resources,
the expert portion may also be useful. However, it doesn't replace an
actual review by a person. It cannot optimize I/O section trace routing,
component placement, etc.

Does anyone with the package routinely use the package to its fullest
extent?

Group,

I am in the process of evaluating an EMI analysis tool. The program is
"Quiet Expert" by Innoveda (formally Viewlogic as I understand it). Is
anyone using this program or have you evaluated it along with others?

Dale
