Nick, I know that AC/DC adapters commonly used with small electronic products require category certification by an authorized AU/NZ agency, e.g. QAS. I suspect a battery charger will require the same, but cannot comment on the applicable standard given your application.

I've been asked what would be the requirements for shipping a switch mode battery charger intended for charging batteries in caravans and on boats. The company concerned have a distributor who they can designate as an authorised agent in Perth, and the unit has a report from a UK notified body which states that it complies with the requirements of EN60335-2-29. Are there any mandatory requirements for registration/approval for this type of product, and if so who is the relevant authority to contact?
