I believe all ADSL and HDSL interfaces that use POTS wiring should meet the safety requirements of a TNV-3 circuit. At present, the FCC in Part 68 does not have any requirements for xDSL equipment. America with an HDSL interface having max 260 Vdc between the lines and 130 V between each line and earth. The maximum current limitation is 75 mA. How is this interface treated? Since it does not meet the requirements for TNV-1, TNV-2, TNV-3, I believe it should be treated as a secondary hazardous circuit but also applying the requirements for Overvoltage and output current limiting requirements. Also, does any one know the status of HDSL with FCC? Peter Merguerian Managing Director Product Testing Division I.T.L. (Product Testing) Ltd.
