Hello PSTC members! I'm working on a product that is telecom network powered (-190 Vdc) and will most likely require a production line hipot test. Being network powered, it is exposed to outside plant surges and has transient protection designed in (fuse and sidactor).
UL's Follow-up Services gray pages states that "Transient voltage suppresion devices other than capacitors connected from primary wiring to dead metal may also be disconnected during the test." Will a production line hipot test be required? Has anyone had experience with this and how do you go about removing soldered sidactors to do the hipot test? It seems like this would be an extra step in the manufacturing process. All comments/opinions are welcome.
