Andrew et al,
EN 61326-1:1997 A1:1998 is a harmonized product family standard for EMC of
measurement, control, and laboratory equipment, as a companion to safety
standard EN 61010-1. It covers both emission and immunity requirements and
references either EN 55011, EN 55022, and the EN 61000-X series of basic
standards.
61326-1 was not harmonized until it's 1998 amendment was added, so the
amendment is already applicable and is indeed a critical part of this
standard since it actually redefines some terminology and adds new
normative annexes (including one for "industrial" environments).
IMO equipment under the scope of EN 61010-1, that used ANY of the generic
standards, should employ this EMC standard.
You may expect an additional amendment, or perhaps a new issue in the
coming weeks/months as 61326-1 is under a challenge at the moment.
However, if changed I would expect the usual 3 year transition period.
Note that there was also a Corrigendum published that simply updated the
Date of Withdrawl (DOW) to be 1 July 2001. So you may need to be sure you
order each of the three items to build the complete standard.
