Hi Rick, Korean approval regulations are limited to models placed on the Korean market. However, please note that Korean approvals are based strictly on model name/number, and the model name stipulated on the approval certificate and the model name of the product put on the market must match exactly.
There are several certification schemes in Korea, with applicability to IT equipment: EMC Registration: Applicable for all IT products (except those falling under either of the other categories below); Requires emissions and immunity testing; Submission to RRL for approval. Type Approval of Wireline Telecommunications Equipment: Applicable for products incorporating WAN/telecom interfaces; Requires emissions/immunity, safety and telecom functional testing; Submission to RRL for approval. Type Approval/Registration of Wireless/Radio Equipment: Applicable for wireless/radio products; Requires RF testing; Submission to the RRL for approval. The above certification processes are administered by the MIC (Ministry of Information and Communication) and RRL (Radio Research Laboratory). Products approved under the above procedures must then be labeled accordingly with the prescribed MIC logo and information. In addition to the above, there is also a safety certification scheme (EK-Mark) for electrical appliances and equipment. Examples of IT related products falling under the scope of EK-Mark certification include AC/DC adaptors, monitors and printers. Hope this helps.
