Joe,

According to the 1/30/02 bulletin that UL sent out, the change from UL
3101-1 to UL 61010A-1 is only a change in standard number and format. None
of the requirements have been changed. The purpose given was to "more
closely align the UL standard number with the IEC standard number". UL
changed the number and made other editorial reformat changes.

UL 61010A-1 (formerly UL 3101-1) is based on IEC 1010-1 (1990) + Amendment 1
(1992). Thus, this standard is not identical to EN 61010-1: 2001.

As of 1/30/02, UL 61010A-1 replaces UL 3101-1.

Please keep in mind that changes may have been proposed/made since the
number change.

Please contact me off-line if you want a PDF copy of the 1/30/02 bulletin.

Subject: UL 61010A-1

Greetings,

I recently heard that UL released UL 61010A-1 which is their version of EN
61010-1. It is my understanding that this standard will replace UL 3101-1.

Does anyone know if the UL version is identical to EN 61010-1: 2001? What
is the status for the withdrawal of UL 3101-1?

All responses are appreciated.

Regards
