Dear All, Clause 2.6.3.3 of the UL60950 Third Edition standard specifies:
If the curent rating of the circuit under test exceeds 16A, the test current and the duration of the test are: - two times the current rating of the circuit for the time durations noted below (table not included here) -or as specified by the manufacturer for dc powered equipment. I am not sure what the second dashed paragraph means. How can a manufacturer of dc powered equipment decide the test current and the time? There is a similar requirement in the IEC 60 950 standard where the test current is twice the raing of the circuit for 2 minutes. However, the way this standard is written, seems to indicate that the dc powered equipment manufacturer can decide on the test duration ONLY of the test which is perfoprmed always at twice the current rating of the circuit.
