Hi Jim:

I don't know of any on-line information as you describe, but Telcordia
Technologies does put on seminars like one called "Understanding NEBS
Compliance". I do have an old web address for them http://www.800teachme.com
.

I would recommend buying some standards even if you are just investigating
the possibility of getting into NEBS, it is a major investment.

SR-3580 has description of the "levels" (the ones you've already found are
not entirely agreed upon), but it gives some overview as to the sort of
requirements that would be applicable to equipment.

GR1089 and GR63 seem to be the most critical documents that cover most of
the requirements. But individual customer requirements are very important in
this area (especially after-the-sale support).

Feel free to contact me off-line if you'd like.

Subject: Newcomer to NEBS

I'm starting up the learning curve on NEBS compliance, and am looking for
any web resources or articles that would have a management-level primer on
the requirements.

All I know is that it covers EMC, safety, and environmental, there are
different levels (1, 2, and 3?), and different potential customers disagree
on what level we need to have. We need to understand the basic differences
between these levels, how much testing is involved for each level, and what
the cost might be.

Of course we are going to get our hands on the standard(s) and study them,
but in the meantime a primer would be very useful. We would also consider
seminars if there's something close by the Pacific northwest.

Thanks,
