Almost 20 years ago, my then employer bought a Keytek ESD gun that would go up to 25kV. We quickly noticed that one could play a bit of a practical joke with it. With the gun on a tripod, locked on at 25 kV, and using a contact (pointed) tip, it generated a copious supply of ions, which easily charged up unsuspecting victims standing innocently two or three meters away on our well-insulated, linoleum floor. They didn't have a CLUE - until they reached for the (grounded) metal door.
Shocking, really. Cortland ------------------------------------------- This message is from the IEEE EMC Society Product Safety Technical Committee emc-pstc discussion list.
