The usual solution is to have the ground connection for the protection
devices (varistor and gas tube) provided by a screw that can be removed for
testing purposes, and then replaced after the test.

Subject: Production Line Hi-Pot Test

Dear Grope

We have designed an AC/DC converter constructed in the primary side with
two varistors (rated 275V), one side of one of them connect to Line , other
side connected to Earth through Gas Tube, second varistor one side
connected to Neutral and other side to Earth trough the same Gas Tube.
My question is how to conduct the production line Hi-Pot test ? It's
unpractical to remove those components before testing in production !!

Thanks
Zohar
