Greetings to everyone: I'm in need of information about SABS enforcement for ITE computer peripherals (USB, serial, PS/2), specifically for some older ITE products already certified and imported in South Africa. SABS has recently upgraded their national standard to follow IEC 60950-1:2001. At the present moment, my client's distributors are being asked to provide evidence of "3rd Edition" approvals or certificates.
The products in question (tested and certified in year 2000 and later), and are covered by a CB certificate listing IEC 60950:1991+A1+A2+A3+A4 2nd Edition. Without considering the EMC requirement, will 60950 2nd Edition up to A4 be enough for a distributor to sell product already on the shelf in South Africa? Is there some announcement or bulletin which states as much or which spells out some different requirement? Thanks in advance for your advice, Angus McGill Cascade Engineering Services, Inc.
