This is in response to the discussion thread on blocked vents.

Based may years experience as a product safety engineer, blocking all vents
DOES NOT always yield the worst case results. In some situations, when all
vents are blocked, a sensor in the secondary immediately operates and disables
the power supply load. In such a situation, blocking a only a single set of
vents might yield worse case results since the sensor may not have responded
immediately or may not have responded at all yielding higher temperatures on
critical insulation.

What I am trying to state here is that when doing abnormals, one has to start
thinking logically including reading the user instructions, installation
instructions and maintenance instructions. We must act as safety engineers and
not repeat errors of inexperienced engineers. Go over your Listing Procedures
and check your Test Records - you will note that many of the abnormals were
terminated in 30 minutes or less because constant temperatures have reached -
of course since the unapproved sensor in the secondary operated when blocking
all of the ventilation openings. The safety engineer in this case did not put
much thought in conducting the abnormal test.

The other issue is the unapproved sendor in the secondary. Since it is
unapproved, would defeating the sensor during the blocked ventillation or
disconnect fan test be justified? I will let everyone think and give thri
thought in this great forum.
