Dear Brian and all,
No apologies needed. I don't consider the post really O.T.

Some people have been doing EMC measurements with GPIB instruments for a
long time and have not the slightest idea on how to interface the
LabView-N.I. GPIB driver cards without using the cryptic GUI software
provided by LabVIEW :-(

I am not sure if the GUI is really easier to use than a C program! It look
to me that there is so much trouble creating the *.vi. Having to creating
the panels is a real pain especially if it is just a reppetitive task, like
scanning a range of freqiencies (and recording only the peaks). The guy
who bought and set up the original LabVIEW system in my place have created
a virtual interface (VI) have moved on to other parts and the LabVIEW we
have was put to better use. We are only using all the old instruments and
not hooking on the new ones. Not knowing much about LabVIEW and C, I stick
to the addage of not going to fix anything until it is broken.

These days I would like to hear from generic GPIB/HPIB card users on where
& how to obtain/get the 'libraries' and the types of C compliers thay uses
to compile these programs that control their machines.

Joan,
Keep us informed. You have my attention here.

sincerely,

Tim Foo
