Relative to IEC61010-1/UL61010-1
As you may have seen I have a string of questions about my power supply design
relative to barriers and spacings.
Well let me add voltage rating to this fun topic.
I have a power supply rated as
120-240VAC (-45/+20% excursion)
110-250VDC (+/-20% excursion)
If it were a single stage Power supply the rectivified 240VAC would become
~339VDC on the storage cap.
This storage cap feeds the Switch Mode Controler chip and transformer at this
voltage.
What voltage must I use when defining the creepage and clearances?
The section D.2 says I can not interpolate if connected to mains - does this
push me into the 600V range?
Also what does it mean to be connected to mains?
There will be an external Control Power Transformer between the low voltage
gear and my product.
Ok let me ratchet this up another notch.
I now change this power supply to have a Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuit
up front that essential acts as a boost circuit.
The wattage is only 40W but I need the hold up provided by the PFC circuit.
The PFC is set in a mode to regulate the voltage of the cap to 350VDC or so.
What must I use to define C&C for the entire circuit?
If I add that the circuit is
* Overvoltage Catagory 3
* Pollution degree 2
Then what do I need for C&C for the entire circuit?
Important references -PS circuit to:
* Grounded metal chassis
*
Y caps to grounded PCB
*
Grounded PCB plane
*
SMC transformer, feedback optos and CM cap
Thanks all
