It's defined in IEC/EN61000-3-2, and in EN55103-1 and-2 and some other
standards:

Apparatus for use in trades, professions or industries and which is not
intended for sale to the general public.

In some standards there is an addition that the designation shall be
specified by the manufacturer, i.e. the manufacturer has to describe the
equipment as 'professional'. It was defined by the manufacturers of such
equipment, with the agreement of manufacturers of other equipment, and
other interests.

How high? If it's over 3680 W (230 V 16 A), that MIGHT make a
difference.

Not really, if it's electronic entertainment equipment. For example,
electronic musical instruments are not 'professional' because they are
sold to the general public, even though the more costly ones are sold
only to a very small market.

Actually, EN 55103 may not be of any help to you in searching for less
stringent EMC requirements. You should look at what the standard (both
parts) requires for environment E1.
