Previously there was a test for conducted immunity which used a special test fixture to inject a signal onto the line input, with the neutral conductor grounded. This was essentially a differential mode test. The test was performed at a 0.5v level, at frequencies up to 450MHz. It was performed only on the input side, not the output side. One of the (many) changes to the standard was to perform the conducted immunity test using the 61000-4-6 test method (a common-mode test). But, they kept the 0.5v level. The only reason I can think of that the 0.5v test level was kept was because that was the level previously used. It makes no sense to me why a breaker should only meet a 0.5v test level, when anything that plugs into the circuit being protected by the breaker must meet a 3v or 10v level. I am hoping to get some input here so that I can convince people we need to be testing to a higher level. Thanks in advance. Bob Richards, NCT Square D. -------------------------------------------
