As long as we admitting to being woodworker /engineer artisans and as a guy
who was under such a turntable my advice is to use clean cueballs (new),
hardwood raceways and try it for awhile without epoxy or stick the epoxy in a
freezer and an oven for awhile to check the epoxy before application. IMHO.

My Auttoban book indicates that the natural nesting material of a cue ball
would be felt. This would keep the ball from acting like a rolling pin on the
plywood.

I find it interesting that the plywood doesn't delaminate,
considering the localized pressures that can exist for large
supported mass loading, even for "many" cue balls being
used.

Perhaps an over design, but I would have opted for a dense,
hardwood race with a sculpted bearing surface, doweled to a
1-1/2+" thick plywood platform.
