Greetings All,

For those who attended last week's TC-8 Product Safety Workshop (Aug 13,
2004, 8am - noon) at the 2004 IEEE EMC Symposium, in Santa Clara, CA, the
TC-8 officers would like to express their appreciation. The workshop is
sponsored by Technical Committee 8 (TC-8, Product Safety) which is one of
the technical committees within the EMC Society. The attendance of 65+
attendees was maintained throughout the workshop time period. This
attendance is extremely good when compared to the other EMC workshops that
are held during the same time period.

We also appreciate those PSES registrants who got up early to attend the
TC-8 workshop. Their first PSES symposium (Aug 13 -15, 2004) started about
an hour and half after our workshop ended. So it was a good start for them
to get a good dose of product safety before their own symposium started.

The speakers and titles that were presented at the TC-8 workshop were:

1) Bill Bisenius, ED&D, Insulation Systems: What, Where, Why & How
2) Dave Lorusso, DELL Inc.: Creepage and Clearance Tutorial
3) Dave Lohbeck, National Instruments: Product Safety Certification for
Information Technology Equipment and Test & Measurement Instruments
4) Keith Armstrong, Cherry Clough Consultants: Introduction to EMC for
Functional Safety also for high reliability and legal metrology

The presentations are part of the 2004 IEEE EMC Symposiums records as
hardcopy (workshop notes) and softycopy (CD). Both were part of the items
provided as part of the EMC registration fee.

Again, on behalf of the TC-8 officers, thanks for making the TC-8 workshop a
success.

Richard
