The Optical Networking group located in Petaluma, CA currently has two job openings for compliance engineers. Position 1 is for an EMC Engineer and position 2 is for an EMC Engineer/NEBS Project Manager. Our Compliance group is based out of Petaluma but there is a possibility that one of the positions could be based out of our San Jose, CA campus.
A high level job description is as follows: Job description Participates on a project team of engineers involved in the specification, design, development and test of hardware, which may include any of the following list of responsibilities: Responsible for board level complex architecture design. Responsible for Compliance design, pre-test, and certification of Cisco Products. Participate as a team member in product development from concept commit, execution commit, engineering release, to first customer shipment. Responsible for ensuring product requirements and system functional specifications incorporate all Compliance requirements, including national and international Compliance requirements. Responsible for setting up Compliance project development test plans and schedules to ensure on-time project completion. Writes complete unit and integration test plans. Participate with other members of the Compliance team to test and measure design margins. Responsible for debugs, root cause analysis and driving resolution of test failures with the design team. Liaison between the certification laboratories and the product design team. Interact with other EMC, Product Safety, Telecom, Mechanical and Environmental experts. Be familiar with Regulatory, International and NEBS requirements. Skills Required Ability to perform without management direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Translates Business Unit level goals to own work assignments. Interfaces cross-functionally and leads team collaboration extending beyond work group. Excellent verbal skills and professional presentation. Sponsors and models exemplary team interaction. Understanding of Telcordia NEBS GR 1089 and GR63. Understanding RBOC’s Design and Test requirements. Proficient in Cisco Optical Config and Maintenance. Solve Problems and Make Decisions.
