With regard to prdiction, look for for IBM, INTEL etc. Do you think they do not use any prediction tool during design?. IBM has a propietory tool, which is very effective in EMC modelling and prediction. Sudhakar The reason we test is to help validate models. After all, the models only describe what we think is there: not what actually is there. Any EMI guy will jump up and down about parasytic components. It's these that cause a lot of EMI problems. Folks that design with High Z circuits know that spurious oscillations have caused many a late night..... No model will predict a parasytic, unless the model developer understands fully the influence of the physical aspect of the hardware being modelled. That comes with experience, and why guys/gals that have a test/hardware background are so highly treasured in the modellng world. Yep, I'm a hardware background modelling guy....
