In this application, I'd say it's hard to beat current probes for catching
"flyers" among generally conforming items. One might use emissions,
especially for UHF and up, which may radiate directly.  But when you know
how much common-mode EMI something generates, compared to what you already
use, you have a pretty good idea how much noise it will add to your
equipment.  You'll need a test setup particular to each kind of item you
test, of course.
