I haven't had any experience with electrical shock in USA, but in India where the supply voltage is 240 Volts, I have experienced mild to severe shock even when touching the live wire with one hand. It can be deadly if one happens to touch both terminals with the same hand. In fact I narrowly escaped death, when working on an equipment I accidentally touched both terminals of a circuit breaker with the same hand. My hand got stuck and I was shouting for help but could not take my hand off. Lucky for me, a technician was around and he immediately turned the main switch off. A friend of mine was not so lucky and died in a similar accident. It is much safer to work on 120 Volts, as there is little chance of anyone dying with 120 V electrical shock.

There is the body capacitance of about 100 pF having a reactance of 27 M at 60 Hz. Connected to a 120 VAC source there will be 4.5 uA RMS current. Not much. If contact is made at the peak of the waveform (170 V) there will be charging current essentially identical to a 170 volt ESD event. The peak current will be around 1/2 amp for around 5 ns. I don't know that one can feel that. I can measure this if anyone wants me to.
