David - Brian O'Connell is correct that no safety agency certification requirements exist for importation into any of the individual states, or for that matter, the US as a whole.
Of equal interest is that, where states have regulations related to the sale of goods and require an NRTL certification, it applies complete products, rather than bare boards (btw, UL796 doesn't have an "F" suffix). You may find that sale of the boards into the market is well served by UL Recognition. I would also note, in relation to Brian O'Connell's e-mail, that, while OSHA administers the NRTL program, any NRTL safety certification requirement for products established by OSHA 1) only applies to the work place and not to consumer goods not used in the work place, and 2) OSHA can not dictate the legislation of the individual states, should they elect to limit acceptable safety certification labs (for instance, the State of Washington had, at one time, an independent lab accreditation program). That aside, the sates of Washington and Oregon have such laws, as does the City of Los Angeles (and probably other large municipalities, like Chicago) Regards, Peter L. Is this correct, and if so in which 2 States is UL mandatory? My specific interest at the moment is for PCB's, and relates both to UL746F and UL796F.
