Engineering ethics with an emphasis on EMC and safety: Some might think that the discussion of engineering philosophy, EMC ethics, and equipment safety ethics are an inappropriate topic for this reflector.
I maintain that this reflector is the ideal place to discuss this topic. EMC ethics issues are frequently posted. They are generally along the lines of skirting government regulations, being pressured by management to pass something, and stories about unnamed EMC houses that are suspect. Safety issues also come up from time to time. EMC and safety engineers are sometimes caught in the middle and need a way to make the right decisions and to justify their decisions. Ethics are what we use to decide these issues. Each decision does not necessarily need to be ad hoc. Is this a topic that needs more visibility in our profession.
