Agree with Neil, IEC/EN61508 requires a lot of work. The standard consists of 7 subparts and the total number of pages are approximate 1000. I have not made any work towards IEC/EN61508, but I know some manufactures that have worked for years. As far as I know, TUV are a cerification body for such SIL-certification.
