Subject: Japanese Compliance Requirements

Hello group,

I’ve been asked about Japanese compliance requirements.  Specifically, this
brings up six questions to me:

1. Is there a Japanese equivalent to EN 61326-1?  Or are there no EMC
regulations on Test and Measurement equipment in Japan?  Or, will Japanese
authorities accept EN 61326-1?
2. Is there a Japanese equivalent to EN 61010-1? Or are there no safety
regulations on Test and Measurement equipment in Japen?  Or,  will Japanese
authorities accept EN 61010-1?
3. Same as question 2 for EN 60950.
4. Same question for EN 55022 and EN55024 (ITE equipment)
5. What about power supplies?  Many of our products use external AC/DC
adapters.  Is there a special mark that I need to look for?  Here, I’m
wondering if we may be OK with our test and measurement equipment; but perhaps
we’ll have to take a second look at the power supplies.  Or, again, will
Japanese authorities accept a power supplyEN 60950 or EN 61010-1?
6. What about “Connection Approval”?  We have one product which has a phone
jack for a remote reset circuit (you call the product, if the phone rings 3
times, it re-boots itself).  How would we go about getting connection approval?
7. If we are short on approvals, do we have to test in Japan; or do they have
Memoranda of Understanding with A2LA or NVLAP?

I know that I’ll have to do some digging myself; but I was hoping that the
group could at least flesh out some of the requirements for me.

If all else fails; does anybody know of a good website, ideally maintained by
the Japanese authorities, where I could search for these answers myself?

Thanks,
