There is no requirement for UK plugs to be moulded on, a "screwed together"
plug is perfectly acceptable.

Also note that The Plugs and Sockets etc (Safety) Regulations 1994 require
plugs to be fitted only to household appliances, professional gear is not
affected.

Subject: BS-1363 Plugs

Question for the list - has anyone ever heard of a requirement that the
plugs on the ends of an AC Mains cord for the UK "must be molded"? This
means both the IEC-320 at the one end and the fused BS-1363 wall plug
at the other end?

I ask because we sent such a cordset to the UK and the reviewer
commented he thought the cordset unacceptable because the plugs were
both screwed together and not molded. Note that the plugs both have
appropriate EU safety agency markings on them.

Thank you in advance for any comments.

Regards,
Scott Douglas
