I don't have any experience with this software but I have installed many
similar CAD programs. I believe your program is looking for a dongle on the
parallel port. Secondary to this there is usually a license file on the HD,
usually locate on the root of the EMI software. They are about 1K and and are
usually supplied on floppy.

Hello experts,

I am trying to install my HP 85876B Radiated EMI software on a WinXP Pro box
without success. The problem is related to the parallel port hardware key (of
course). I get an error message telling me that it cannot locate a valid
hardware key. I have successfully installed the NT hardware key driver, but
only get about halfway through the application install before the error. This
software/hardware ran fine on WinNT4. Has anyone had any luck running this
(or similar) software under XP?

I remember some discussion of (old) HP software protection schemes and dongles
on this listserv from a year or two ago. I tried to search the archives and
made it through most of the Spanish inquisition before I was placed in
suspended animation. So now I'm "waiting approval" to join the EMC-PSTC web
based community before I can search.

Thwarted at every turn.
