On reading your post, I was motivated to look at my latest empty 20-ounce Diet
Coke bottle. Sure enough, the bottle has the 3-arrow symbol with a "1" inside,
and they also have "PETE" molded below the symbol.

Oddly enough, I note that Coke is corrupting the recycling symbol on the
bottle's label; they have a 3-arrow logo, but instead of a number, they have
placed their trademark "swoosh curve" within the arrows.

Subject: RE: Marking of plastic

In the United States plastic products are marked with the three arrows with a
number inside the arrows. The number corresponds to the type of plastic used.

1 = Polyethelyne Terephthalate (PETE)

2 = High Density Polyethelene (HDPE)

3 = Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)

4 = Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE)

5 = Polypropylene (PP)

6 = Polystyrene (PS)

7 = Other

Hi all

>From where in EU comes the requirements for marking plastic materials. It is

the 3 arrows with a plastic identifier (. PE, POM etc.). Is there other

countries around the world which requires this kind of marking ?
