Hello,

On behalf of one of my clients we are seeking assistance on obtaining
approvals for a household (IEC60335) appliance. He has been told by his
distributor in Australia that the following standards (amongst others) are
applicable.

AS/NZS 4417.1:1996
MARKING OF ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS TO INDICATE COMPLIANCE WITH REGULATIONS -
GENERAL RULES FOR USE OF THE MARK

AS/NZS 4417.2:1996
MARKING OF ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS TO INDICATE COMPLIANCE WITH REGULATIONS -
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ELECTRICAL SAFETY REGULATORY APPLICATIONS

AS/NZS 4417.3:1996
MARKING OF ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS TO INDICATE COMPLIANCE WITH REGULATIONS -
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY REGULATORY APPLICATIONS

I have looked at scope statements regarding these standards and they appear to
be standards for the control of the regulatory mark in Australia, which would
require involvement of the NCB in Australia.

1. Is this a correct assumption?

2. Is a resource/reference that we should consult?

Best regards,

Bill Weller
