I hope that I got the meanings of the acronyms correct... So, we continue to use EN 61000-4-3 ed 2 with Amendment 1 until then at least. Can someone correct me if I am mistaken? I think that the new version has a lot of good improvements. One thing that did catch my attention that could impact some of the labs that I work with is the removal of the references to TEM / GTEM / Striplines in the note in Section 6 and also the complete removal of the Ed. 2 Annex D, which specified them as well. Does this mean that GTEM will be no longer acceptab! le as an alternate test method for RF immunity testing if the IEC document is ratified as-is? Regards, William

Although there are no technical differences, there is a difference regarding transition times you were looking for. When Cenelec publishes 3rd Edition of 61000-4-3, it will include a dow, a date of withdrawal of superseded standard. Until that date both the new and old can be used, i.e. the transition applies. Since 301 489-1 references 61000-4-3 and is non-specific in a particular version and states: "For a non-specific reference, the latest version applies." I am guessing that it means what it says and that the date of publication on the IEC website and the indication that it has replaced version 2.1b, that Edition 3.0 is now the applicable version as of the publication date. My question regards whether or not there is some place that specifies that there is a transition time that may apply that perhaps I am not aware of, perhaps in some guide to applying the standards or an ETR...
