I manage a small in-house compliance test house. We produce EMC and Product Safety technical files for each product to meet the European Legislation.
At the moment we produce these by hand with the aid of Word templates. The level of work over the past eighteen months or so has been such that we can't keep up with demand - the documentation lags behind the test programs. Are there commercially available computer applications out there for producing this kind of work? Looking at what we produce, it's maybe 90% boilerplate, but still very labour intensive and repetitive across test spec, test report and technical file in terms of cutting and pasting information to suit a particular project. Anybody out there found a smarter solution to this? I'd like to spend much more time sorting out design issues and preaching the word and far less time clerking.
