That's "2006-04-05 01:02:03" in correct notation. Please read http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/iso-time.html and/or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iso8601 to learn more about ISO8601. Since it's the only existing unambiguous and the most logical format, there is no alternative. I also disagree with Chris James: ISO8601 _is_ used widely.
