One of my military customers asked for BS EN61000-4-2:1995 ESD testing, in order to satisfy a requirement for the British DEF STAN 59-41 Method DCS10.3. The EUT is an electronics box that mounts in a ground shelter. Our design engineers are worried about ESD protection of the pins of the large circular Mil-grade connectors on the rear panel of the box. However, when I read Paragraphs 8.3.1 and A.5, regarding selection of test points, it seems like connector pins, which I think are not accessible to the equipment operator, are exempt from this requirement. Looking for another opinion, I looked at the REO Handbook 9 ( http://www.reo.co.uk), where it referred to a list of exempt and non-exempt connector pins. However, I can't seem to find such a list in BS EN61000-4-2:1995. I need a fourth (or more) opinion.
