Good morning, We do use a chart recorder to monitor the general conditions, however; the required records are actually written on the test setup sheet at the beginning and end of testing. Readings are made from a calibrated (NIST traceable) Omega chart recorder. I agree, that the requirement are that the conditions during testing are the critical values, but it is a good idea to watch the trends. Indoors, the values should be stable during a test lasting an hour or two. -Doug

It has a memory function that records the maximum and minimum values. This memory function can be reset, for example, at the start of each day's testing. This gives us the temperature and humidity range for that day. However, in my experience, ESD testing does not take very long. Therefore I think that it is adequate to just note the temperature and humidity at the start of the test, and then check the values after an hour, if the testing is still going. I cant find this stated anywhere in the 61000-4-2 standard. I have a thermohygrometer that only displays the temperature/humidity but does not record. Is this sufficient? If not, can anybody recommend me a reliable recorder? We have 2 Omega CTH89 but the pen arm was not working and hence could no longer record. And the repair cost is high! (FYI I do not use a barometer because my country’s pressure does not vary too much and is always within that required by the standard).
