So far, I've not heard of any harassment caused by allegations of the 'wrong' standard being applied. But there are two cases- - the 'wrong' standard is applied because there appears not to be a 'right' one, and it can't be shown that the product is actually unsatisfactory; - the wrong standard is applied when there definitely IS a right one, and the wrong standard doesn't in fact ensure that Essential Requirements are met. In the first case, the manufacturer has done his best; in the second case he surely hasn't. I find the latter too common; people applying EN 55013 and EN 55020 to professional audio and video products instead of the correct EN 55103-1 and -2. Often this appears to be because a test house can't be bothered to set up for the correct standards because of low demand. There are also cases where everything has IEC/EN 60950-1, EN 55022 and EN 55024 applied, no matter what the product actually is. -- OOO - Own Opinions Only.
