Hi Kim and Scott, Just adding some information It is correct that the DVD player must comply with EN 55022, EN 55024 and ISO 7637-2, but it shall also comply with at least some other parts of COMMISSION DIRECTIVE 2004/104/EC qoute from Directive ************** Annex I 3.2.9. Components sold as aftermarket equipment and intended for the installation in motor vehicles need no typeapproval if they are not related to immunity-related functions (Annex I, 2.1.12). In this case a Declaration of Conformity according to the procedures of Directive 89/336/EEC or 1999/5/EC must be issued. Part of this declaration must be that the ESA fulfils the limits defined in paragraphs 6.5, 6.6, 6.8 and 6.9 of Annex I to this Directive. ************** Annex I 6.5: Specification concerning broadband electromagnetic interference generated by ESAs Reference standard: CISPR 25 (2nd edition, 2002). Annex I 6.6: Specifications concerning narrowband electromagnetic interference generated by ESAs. Reference standard: CISPR 25 (2nd edition, 2002). Annex I 6.8: Specifications concerning the immunity to transient disturbances conducted along supply lines Reference standard: ISO 7637-2:DIS2002 Annex I 6.9: Specifications concerning the emission of conducted disturbances Reference standard: ISO 7637-2:DIS2002 The test methods and limits stated in the directive shall be used. The DoC for the equipment shall contain reference to COMMISSION DIRECTIVE 2004/104/EC, i.e.: Directive 2004/104/EC: The limits defined in Annex I, paragraphs 6.5, 6.6, 6.8 and 6.9 are fulfilled.

EMC compliance is both ISO 7637 for automotive and a relevant set of CE-marking standards (eg. EN 55022 and 24 if it is a IT equipment). This is a little more testing to do, but you save the cost of the e-marking administration and the quality audits. The difference is that e-marking requires the involvement of a national regulatory authority; e.g. the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) in the UK. The e-mark number is unique to the device, and the first part of it denotes the country in which it is issued.
