Scott,

In this instance it is not mandatory to have e-marking, but it is mandatory to
have automotive EMC compliance. The difference is that e-marking requires the
involvement of a national regulatory authority; e.g. the Vehicle Certification
Agency (VCA) in the UK. The e-mark number is unique to the device, and the
first part of it denotes the country in which it is issued. Automotive EMC
compliance merely requires you to have test reports to the relevant standards
to support your claims of compliance.

Kim,

Thanks for your advice. Did you mean that it is not mandatory to have e-mark
but nice to have automotive EMC compliance? Otherwise, what is the difference
between e-mark compliance and automotive EMC compliance?

Best regards,

Scott

Hi Scott

This product will not require e-marking, only CE-marking. BUT you shall get a
certificate from a NB for automotive EMC, stating that your product is not an
immunity product.

We have a portable DVD player with comes with a set of rechargeable batteries
and charger/mains adapter for use at home and cigarette plug cable for used in
car. Does the unit require CE approval or e-mark approval?

Thanks,

Scott
