Hi All,

I'm testing a machine which incorporates a Plasma cutter. The plasma unit has
arrived, and is tested in accordance with EN60974-10:2003. My question is, why
wasn't Surge ( EN61000-4-5 ) and conducted Immunity ( EN61000-4-6 ) required
for this device. It boggles the mind! I'm going to perform these on the
machine, I have to...

I'm loosing faith fast in product standard writers, and their ability to
decided what tests to specify. Another example I came across last week was
Cook tops. In this day and age, when cell phones are common place, there is no
requirement to test for radiated immunity: unbelievable!

OK, soap box over... Can anyone help me understand why EN60974-10:2003 is
missing the two tests?

Thanks,

Derek Walton
