I hear a raw egg can be pretty spectacular.

I made microwave popcorn (new stuff at the time for me). I put it in
for 5 minutes (what package warning?)it started a small fire in the
microwave (smoke everywhere)and I knew it was me. Through all the smoke
one of the guys says " I think the world is coming to an end" I ask
"Why?" He says "Well ,our safety engineer just put microwave popcorn in
the micro for 5 minutes and almost burned the place down and we don't
have anymore popcorn.

We did this (accidentally) with a piece of chicken at one of my old
workplaces. I think what was intended to be 22 seconds became a
neglected 22 minutes. We had a stainless steel industrial microwave so
we didn't burn down the building, but it reeked for days (and BAD).
Highly not recommended in any place you spend time regularly.

Happy weekend all,
-Dave

A small potato left in a running microwave for a long period can give a
wonderful insight into the way that carbon based matter changes state
with
prolonged exposure to energy.
Disclaimer: this test can and probably will burn your house down so use
the
office oven.

olives are the right size, too.

but try a burning birthday candle

The ionized particles in the flame turn it into a sparkler.
