Well, I use 'me', but one of my clients definitely finds it worthwhile to employ someone with a sufficient technical background not only to keep scanning web sites, mail-lists, newsletters etc. for new developments, including problems and interpretations, but also to *promulgate the information in accessible forms* throughout the organization.
