Another question for the list. I see an AM/FM receiver with a USB port and a RS-232 port on the back. Yes, there are processors and clocks inside.
According to the FCC rules, the receiver needs only verification and not certification, and it specifies a short FCC statement for the back of the product. I don't have the text here, but it is not the same statement as applied on classical computers and printers, etc. The EMC test lab said the receiver is a digital device and a computer peripheral so it applied (or required) the same FCC statement as on a computer and also applied (or required) an FCC ID be placed on the product. My view is this is not a peripheral and is a receiver so it needs the first (shorter) statement and does not need an FCC ID. Which of us is right?
