Amund, My understanding is that UL1950 came about when the IEC standard was IEC 950. UL1950 was based on IEC 950, but had significant variations from the IEC standard. With the passage of time, both standards have evolved, with the UL standard getting progressively closer to the IEC standard. Now, the situation is that UL60950-1 is harmonized with IEC60950-1, so will be identical to IEC 60950-1 with the US national variations applied. Of course, if you want an IECEE CB certificate, then you will need to work to the IEC standard and pay heed to all national variations that you want to include.
